Today, Wednesday, 10 September 2025, a significant step for the future of air rescue in the region was taken at the terminal of City Airport Mannheim: DRF Luftrettung won the tender for the air rescue location at City Airport Mannheim. In this context, the existing lease agreement between DRF Luftrettung and City Airport Mannheim was officially extended by 15 years.

The ceremonial signing of the contract took place in the presence of Mr Thomas Blenke, State Secretary of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior, Mayor Dr Volker Proffen and the two managing directors of DRF Luftrettung, Dr Krystian Pracz and Mr Ernst Peleikis.

‘We are delighted to be continuing this successful partnership and look forward to many more years of cooperation with the DRF,’ explains Dirk Eggert, Managing Director of City Airport Mannheim. ‘Our cooperation has been characterised by mutual trust, professionalism and a common goal: to ensure reliable and rapid air rescue for the people in the region.’

The decision is not only a clear commitment to the capabilities of DRF Luftrettung, but also an important milestone for Mannheim as an air rescue location and for the airport itself. Together, operations will now be further expanded to ensure high-quality emergency medical care from the air in the future.
