An institution of economic importance for the region
Mannheim City Airport
More than ever before, fast transport links to individual economic centers play a crucial role in the competition to attract new businesses and secure the location of existing ones. Thanks to its central location in the heart of the Rhine-Neckar triangle, Mannheim Airport, which has been in existence since 1926, meets these requirements.
From here, all major European cities can be reached directly by plane in no time at all. In recent years, City Airport Mannheim has created more than 500 jobs in the region. The airport facilities are state-of-the-art and were largely installed or supplied by companies in the region.

Sustainable energy at the airport – solar power for ground and air
An important step towards climate-friendly aviation has already been taken: several hangar roofs at our airport are equipped with modern photovoltaic systems. The solar energy generated is used immediately – for example, to charge our electric vehicles, which operate emission-free in daily flight operations.
Surplus electricity flows into the public grid, thus making an active contribution to the energy transition beyond our airfield.
But we are not satisfied with that:
Additional roof space is already earmarked for the expansion of the solar power systems.
With the planned increase in renewable energy, we are not only strengthening our independence from fossil fuels, but also laying the foundation for an efficient charging infrastructure for electric aircraft.
Our goal is clear: to gradually transform City Airport Mannheim into a pioneer of sustainable mobility—both on the ground and in the air.
Mannbeim City Airport – a hub for mobility and innovation
Regional airports play a central role in Germany's decentralized air traffic infrastructure. They connect economic areas, enable fast passenger and freight transport, and at the same time create space for innovation – especially in the field of general aviation and sustainable mobility. As a regional airport, we offer a wide range of aviation activities with the support of all companies at City Airport Mannheim: from business aviation and pilot training to development flights, for example in the field of e-mobility in the air. Safety, efficiency, and environmental awareness are at the heart of everything we do.
Our infrastructure is geared toward the needs of modern aviation:
with precisely coordinated air traffic control, an operational airport fire department, efficient ground handling, and close cooperation with regional and national partners. As part of a sustainable transport concept, we promote the expansion of alternative propulsion systems, offer charging infrastructure for electric aircraft, and are actively working on the future of regional air transport.
Thanks to its proximity to companies, research institutions, and educational establishments, our landing site is not only a locational advantage for the region, but also a driver of innovation for the aviation of tomorrow.
ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU
Fire department & technical services
A well-thought-out package of measures ensures security
Airport fire department
Dangers and emergencies can arise at any airport in the world. In line with its high safety standards, City Airport Mannheim has a rapid response team of 16 firefighters who are trained and equipped to deal with all kinds of emergencies.
In addition to aircraft fire protection and building fire protection, the airport fire department's responsibilities also include technical assistance and first aid. Safety tasks around the airport complete the diverse range of duties performed by airport fire department employees.
The fire department also handles air freight hazardous materials. Four employees are trained in PK 6 classification.
The airport fire department's area of operation covers the entire airport grounds, including all buildings (terminal + hangars), movement areas such as runways, taxiways, and parking areas, as well as other open spaces.
We are always there for you with certainty.

Technical service
The Technical Service is responsible for all technical matters, from monitoring the approach system, weather station, and runway lighting to maintaining and repairing the building services in hangars and the terminal and office buildings.
A total of 24 hangars, some of which are insulated and heated, are available to our customers for storing their aircraft. A well-equipped fleet of machines supports us in important activities such as winter maintenance and mowing.
One of our team's main tasks is refueling aircraft using a tanker truck with Jet A1 kerosene fuel and the stationary refueling system with kerosene and gasoline (Avgas 100LL and Mogas).
We also offer numerous services such as battery start-up and forklift services, emptying and filling aircraft toilets, and hangar cleaning. Towing, moving aircraft in and out of hangars, and providing all kinds of assistance to our customers are also a matter of course.
A well-trained and motivated team looks forward to welcoming you.
