In partnership with the City of Mannheim: Ceremony Marking the 100th Anniversary

On July 7, 2026, EDFM Airfield celebrated its 100th anniversary with a festive ceremony.

Numerous guests from the worlds of politics, business, and aviation, as well as long-time companions, attended the event and came together to celebrate this special anniversary.

In their opening remarks, Mayor Specht and State Secretary Haser emphasized the airport’s importance to the region and paid tribute to its development over the past 100 years.

Another focus of the event was the future of aviation. In technical presentations, the companies GreenAviationHub, Smartflyer, Vaeridion, and md-aircraft GmbH presented the latest developments in the field of electric aviation and offered exciting insights into innovative concepts for sustainable aviation.

EDFM Airfield would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all the speakers, guests, and the many volunteers whose dedication contributed to the success of the anniversary event. The ceremony was a fitting start to the anniversary year and also provided an opportunity to look back on a century of aviation history and look ahead to the future.

EDFM Airport looks forward to the coming years with great confidence—and to the next 100 years of aviation history.
